1 Timothy 2:12 (11-26-06)
by Jeffrey Caldwell (Redwood City, California)
This Letter was received in regard to:
"Women CAN be Pastors and Leaders: Here's Why" by Dianne D. McDonnell, which appeared in Issue #36.Jeffrey Caldwell writes:
The article provides a thought-provoking exposition of 1 Timothy 2:12, with significant contextual information I hadn't seen or considered before. More complete and precise bibliographic documentation of sources would be appreciated.
In referring to a key phrase for understanding the passage and her exposition of it, concluding the paragraph under the heading "Keep Those Women Silent!" we find: See "Let the women keep silent, What did Paul Mean?" -- which is apparently another article.
I do not know where it is -- a link to it there seems appropriate. I need to consider it to make a sounder determination of the merit of the exposition offered here.
Laura Lee writes:
We are sorry for our mistake. We generally catch and take out things like "See "Let the Women Keep Silent, What did Paul Mean?" when we have not yet printed it. There is an article by that title, but we have not read it yet ourselves. When we get to it, we will consider it for print at that time. For now we did pull our mistake from the newsletter before it went to print and we have changed our web copy of
Issue #36. Thank you for letting us know of our error, it was appreciated.Until we get to that article, you might study the following articles on the same subject. First read
