Greetings. This is in response to a comment by Gary Sem, on page 17 of your issue #36. He said, "MODERN 'JEWS' ARE NOT ISRAELITES"! I don't know his sources, but the following very, very much supports his conclusion.
I recently sent an article to Dixon covering this very subject. Since I don't know if he will print it, I will present a condensed and paraphrased version for you. The materials I present are from two authors, Alan Morrison, whose work essentially covers the Jews of Eastern Germany and Eastern Europe, following the end of WW II.
Stephen Birmingham's work covers the Jews of both Eastern Europe and Germany, along with the Jews of "Western" Germany. Birmingham's period covers the time of Otto von Bismarck up until WWI. Both authors, when reporting on East European Jews, are dealing with the same peoples. Birmingham, when he discusses the "Western" Jews, is speaking of a different Jew!
Morrison says that most of the Jews in Israel today are eastern Europe Jews, and says nothing being related to the western Jew's!
The Encyclopedia Judaica, says (according to Morrison) that 85% of all Jews in Israel today are "Khazars". Eastern Jews who migrated from that area or others.
This is who Morrison describes the Khazars as being. He says that there was a Kingdom called Khazaria, that existed from the 400's to the 1200's BC. It was located in the steppes of Russia. In the 600's AD, the Emperor of Khazaria became a Jew. He required his subjects to convert as well. Rabbi's from Babylon were called in to teach "their law".
Eventually, these Khazar "Jews" wound up in Eastern European areas. Quite likely as the result of the expansion of Islam. Anyway, it was from amongst the surviving Jews of the Holocaust that mostly wound up in Israel, the Jews of Khazaria (East Europe) or "gentiles" by race, and therefore not of Judah.
Birmingham covers "two" migrations of Jews to America, that took place from Otto von Bismarck, to the beginning of WWI. The first migration of Jews to America was mostly Jews from WESTERN Germany! This migration was about the 1860's-1880's. He says the eastern Jews in that same period, mostly migrated east! Back to their homeland in the Russian steppes. [Re: Fiddler on the Roof]!
The Khazar Jews, now in Russia, were forced to migrate back west when the Czar kicked them out in the late 80's or so.
Many of these Jews wound up in America. Many more simply went back to their former homes in East Europe. It was these latter who were the mostly persecuted by Hitler -- gentile Khazars.
This is getting long, so I will try to shorten it further. Birmingham makes clear distinctions between the first migration Jews to America from "west" Europe, and the second "gentile" Khazar migration from the east.
Birmingham describes (generally) the Khazars to have been, "shorter, stockier, darker, with dark eyes"! He also says of the western Jews (generally) were "Taller, slimmer, lighter, with lighter eyes and hair." The "Jews" in the "west" were little different in appearance than the rest of Israel!
By the way, Birmingham says that many, if not most, of the western Jews who came to America altered or changed their names and converted to Christianity, in order to not experience further persecution.
There are many other interesting points, but this should suffice.

This second article details clear evidence that biblical prophecy identifies modern Jews/Israelis as the modern tribe of Judah. God has used the modern Jews/Israelis to fulfill his specific prophecies about "Judah" in the latter days (Genesis 49, Zephaniah 2, etc.), and there are no arguments based on mere "human reasoning" which will undo the clear scriptural evidence on the subject.
