Hi Everyone,
Sorry that Issue #52 of "The Church of God Messenger" is so late. We are working on it.

In regard to "The Bible Talk Forums" email lists. We had hoped that by having two way lists there would be more participation and sharing but that was not the case. Participation and sharing became less and the spam mail we receive due to these two way lists has also increased.

I originally went looking for an email marketing program to use with our family businesses "Lee's Brite-Way High Risers (Window Cleaning Service) and Laura Lee Enterprises (Shopping Mall OnLine). As a side note, the reason that we and others use our actual names in our business names is because if we don't do this we have to buy and maintain a "Trade Name".

In looking for an email marketing program I found this "phplists" on our server. It was a little tricky to get running and it had a few bugs in it, but it seems to be working now. It is a really nice program because it sends invitations to join the list and then the person receiving the invitation has to confirm that they want to be on the lists and after the person confirms they are sent a welcome email and a link to go in and change their preferences or lists. We set it up so you do not need a password. The only thing a person needs in order to subscribe is an email address and a first and last name. You can change your list preferences as often as you want to.

If a person unsubscribes they are sent an email telling them that they have been black listed from the list and that they would have to contact the administrator in order to get back on the list. This does prevent people from getting accidentally put back on the list or being sent invitations they do not want.

Carolyn from K and K Kreations is helping me to test this new program. Carolyn has administrator privileges in that she has her own list. We want to offer this same privilege to others. We will send more info on that later or you can contact me for details. What Carolyn can do is send marketing emails to people who want to know about her business and it all meets spam laws.

Church of God people have web sites and newsletters and articles and etc., so lets market some of that stuff to the general public.

Some of what will happen with these new lists is unknown at this point. However we are asking people to start confirming the invitations we are sending out and then go in and hook up with the lists you want to be on and take yourself off those you do not want to be on. One list that we are going to eliminate is the "Discuss Doctrine" list simply because no one is using it for anything and the new lists are one way lists so it probably wouldn't work out very well.

One test email will be sent out on the "World & Local News" lists today yet, but we won't start sending on the new lists until next week and even then it would not be all lists. We will keep sending on the old lists until the new lists are running.

We do want some participation so we suggest that you look into getting your own list through us or send things to: the-bible-talk-forums at earthlink.net via email and we will send it out for you on one of our lists. Please do not flood our email with tons of stuff all in one day, kind of spread it out a little. We will only be sending from the new lists once a week at this point.
