Although medications can certainly be used in a wrong way, so can many other things which would also be included under the heading of "witchcraft" or "sorcery".
In Rev. 18:23, merchants would not be solely confined to Pharmaceutical Companies but certainly could include them.
I just felt this needed some further clarification, so that someone did not get the idea that all Doctors and all Medication is wrong to use. For example, sometimes people break bones and need doctors to put them back together or some of us would have either bled to death or never been able to walk again. Sometimes certain medications are needed for infection or pain relief on a temporary basis. Sometimes people are diabetic and are not able to control the condition with diet so then need insulin. There are many other examples that could be used.
The wrong use of medications would certainly include all drugs used for recreational purposes and addictions, whether those drugs are bought on the street or from a Pharmacy. Laura Lee
